Description
Vineyard
The organically farmed, dry grown Chestnut Hill Vineyard is located on the south-eastern border of the Yarra Valley, in the Port Phillip Zone. The pinot noir block was planted in 1997 with cuttings from Gembrook Hill, at 260m above sea level, facing north-east, on heavy grey clay loam. ’17 was a classic cool year, an absolutely fantastic vintage. We picked about 1.2kg per vine of balanced, clean, concentrated fruit.
Winemaker's Note
Made with mainly destemmed fruit, and 15% whole bunches. Gentle winemaking with no additions apart from a little sulphur at bottling. The wine has just started to open up in 2020, and enter the beginning of its drinking window. A long life ahead.
