Description
Vineyard
The organically farmed, dry grown Chestnut Hill Vineyard is located on the south-eastern border of the Yarra Valley, in the Port Phillip Zone. The chardonnay block was planted in 1985 on own rootstock at 250m above sea level, facing north-east, on heavy grey clay loam. 2020 was a cool lean year and we picked about 0.5kg per vine of just ripe, clean, concentrated fruit.
Winemaker's note
The wine is like a tightly wound coil, and in time, when it opens up it will explode! Lean feel on entry and good mid palate weight and texture. This old vine block of chardonnay proffers good natural extract, and a typical long acid finish.
